Kevin’s primary responsibility is managing the firms’ finances and administrative functions. Prior to that he was the firm’s CCO and oversaw the back office operations for the Silverback funds, including the funds’ valuation, NAV accounting, investor transactions and annual audits.
Prior to joining Silverback in 2006, Kevin was Chief Operating Officer, Chief Compliance Officer and Partner at Akela Capital LLC, the investment manager of a hedge fund with over $550 million in assets under management. Kevin managed Akela’s business and oversaw the funds’ operations from startup and launch in 2001 until the orderly close in 2006. He was also responsible for all compliance related issues for the firm, and in 2004 directed the process for Akela Capital’s registration as an Investment Adviser with the SEC.
Kevin has over 35 years of experience in business and operations management with twenty years in the financial services sector. Previously, Kevin spent 15 years as a geologist in the petroleum industry beginning in 1985. He joined Geological Data Services in Dallas in 1988 and ascended through various roles of increasing responsibility. In 1996 he was named Vice President until leaving the industry for financial services in 2000.
Kevin received his BS degree from West Virginia University in 1982 and earned an MS in Geological Sciences from the University of Kentucky in 1985.
